Believe it or not, Nikko is the manufacturer of the largest radio-controlled vehicles in the whole world.

What Nikko is

Nikko is the manufacturer of radio controlled toys and is a global producer of high quality RC products.

Due to the fact that Nikko has its own factories, they effectively control, ensure and monitor quality in every product they produce.

Quality, quality, quality

Nikko is also one of the very few manufacturers of radio-controlled vehicles that provide customer service to its consumers. Every product that Nikko produces is tested individually for durability and quality in order to assure one hundred percent satisfaction to its customers. Also, Nikko RC products are covered with a warranty for sixty days.

Nikko product awareness

As much as possible, buyers should also be wary and aware of products that are mere imitations prior to purchasing. Believe it or not, Megatech spends sufficient time in ensuring that consumers receive the best and durable highly-performing products.

Nikko products are generally tested carefully and the packages are specifically sealed with the Megatech quality seal.

Warranties etc.

There have been changes made lately; products by Megatech that are bought on the internet, (Yahoo or eBay etc.), are actually void of warranties. Also, any Megatech products that are purchased from hobbytron.com do not offer any repair warranty.

An example of a Nikko product

One product of Nikko is the RC Nissan 1/10th z turner with battery and charger. This particular product is able to steer exceptionally well and in a responsive manner; in the right or left direction, as well as back and forward easily.

This Nissan as made by Nikko is orange in color and has windows that are tinted. A 9.6 volt battery pack is included as well as a nine-volt battery.

Nikko product features

Other features of this Nissan RC vehicle is its turbo extra boost that allows it to drive in a speed that is faster. It also has four drifting bonus tires included. It has working headlights, spinning wheels, front adjustable wheel alignments, suspension in the rear and front. Believe it or not, it also has a body that resists impact and a gear differential much better traction.

All in all, Nikko remote-controlled cars and products are oriented towards quality and in efficient and consistent service to its various consumers.

A remote control car enthusiast will spend many hours and hundreds of dollars to build a creation that he can be proud of. After all the hard work and effort, it is no fun to just keep the creation under wraps and not show it off. It would be a complete waste of time and money, according to some. Understandably, though, many radio control car enthusiasts plan to enter the RC cars they build, in various competitions. The popularity of the RC race car is increasing as there are many fans who are interested in it. There are clubs and associations dedicated to radio controlled car racing. A large number of competitions are being organized and there are various kinds of competitions. Here we look at some of the main types of competitions that are organized and the type of RC cars required for it. It may at times be possible to exchange some of the parts of the RC car to get a RC car suited for a particular type of competition.

1. The first kind of competition is common enough; it is a race set up on a simple race track, like a NASCAR event. A paved road functions as a track and all cars are lined up in a row at the starting point. There may be sprint races or marathons needing a few dozen laps. In these types of races, the speed matters. No one is interested in the appearance of the RC car, so long as it beats the competition. There is a lot of technical detail involved in the creation of these RC cars. Gas powered cars that are lightweight, having high tech engines with firm wheels are best suited to these contests.

2. The second kind of competition is also a race but is more fun. The race takes place on an off-road track. The off-road track will have rough terrain with hills and valleys and also many obstacles or ramps. Most of the entrants have remote controlled vehicles that look like trucks, because the cars take a real beating on the off-road tracks. The cars will have huge shock absorbers and some may even have wheels placed on both the sides just in case the RC car flips over when it hits any bump. Many innovative methods and advanced driving techniques are used to keep such RC cars in the game. This makes it an exciting sport for RC car enthusiasts.

3. Lastly, there are the exhibition competitions consisting of short segments. Each segment shows a particular skill or feature of the radio controlled car like its agility, the speed or the handling. You may be asked to accelerate down a straight road to find out the maximum speed the car can attain. You might be asked to do slalom events by winding in and out of the cones. Each competition may have different types of segments but along similar lines as explained earlier.

Any activity involving radio controlled cars is likely to be great fun for the participants. It may not be winning or losing the game but a time to bond with and get to know other remote control car enthusiasts.

The sight of both men and women in various age groups racing RC cars is no longer novel to the eyes. Nowadays, RC racing is introduced to a higher level of racing involvement. With fine tuning and professional RC racers around, RC racing can be deemed to be more than just an ordinary hobby.

RC cars can be purchased unassembled in a kit, in a completely assembled, or in ready to run (rtr) condition. RC cars are now offered with a wide-variety of options. They come in different styles, colors, built, and features.

If you are planning to purchase RC cars, be sure that you are getting the best that you can have. Options include electric or gas powered RC cars, on-road and off-road models, assembled or unassembled, and car or truck models.

You may ask, which between gas powered and electric RC car is the best choice? Well, the most influential factor in choosing RC car is the source of power. There are pros and cons in possessing both models.

A nitro powered RC car, as its name implies, run on nitro gasoline. This type of RC car is the most popular in the arena. It is also the fastest growing segment in RC cars. Nitro RC vehicles boast their power and speed. They can actually jump at high speed and smoothly drive on the roads without staggering.

Generally, nitro powered RC cars run faster than their electric counterparts. In addition, there are some that can run as fast as 70 mph. Moreover, high-speed driving thrills you, a nitro powered RC car is the best for you.

Gas powered RC cars run on specially formulated fuel. Most of them employ a pull start engine that can be likened to a lawnmower. However, one drawback of this RC car type is that it can be complicated. You have to carefully follow the instructions to make it function well. Nonetheless, nitro cars are not good for beginners.

Electric RC cars, on the other hand, are user-friendly. They run on batteries. Most of these batteries are made rechargeable. They are easy to operate and care for. Electric RC cars are inexpensive. If your finances are precluding you from buying expensive RC cars, electric RC cars can be your most feasible solution. Indeed, electric RC cars are great for beginners in the RC car arena.

An electric RC car can serve as your first RC car. You can practice on it to perfect your driving skills without wasting hefty money. In fact, you can buy electric RC car for any budget. The drawback of this type is that it is slower compared to nitro powered car.

If you plan to purchase an electric RC car, be sure to slowly break in the motor. This is to done to extend the life of the motor and to attain its full potentials.

After “The fast and the furious”, it has become a common misconception that you can call any speed boosting addition to your car a ‘Nitro’. As a result many people who come across the term “Nitro RC car” are often mislead to believe that its been upgraded.

One can assume such a perception has come from the fact that lots think gas powered radio control cars run on actual gasoline. This couldn’t be further from the truth. What Nitro car actually means is gas powered remote controlled car. This is because this kind of RC car consumes a specialized type Nitromethane and lubricant mixture.

So what should you have to get started on your Nitro RC car?

1. Experience – it is recommended you have sufficient experience in operating an electric RC car before you purchase a Nitro RC car. If you’re a rookie at RC car usage then you probably wont be able to handle a Nitro RC car. This is why beginners are recommended to first get electric cars before they upgrade to Nitro RC cars. Thus, they can have enough skill to be comfortable with the Nitro RC cars.

2. Interest- if you are not interested in Nitro RC cars, then there is absolutely no point in pursuing the hobby. You have to have a drive behind you to truly get the best from the RC car hobby. A hobby like Nitro RC car is expensive business and nobody likes spending on something that does not give them profit. Profit here does not mean monetary gain, but to the profit of pursuing a hobby.

3. Information- it isn’t very beneficial to start off with the Nitro RC cars without having enough information about different things related to it. Nitro RC car racing is often tricky. Having the correct information helps you select and maintain the car of your choice and the chances of you going wrong are less. In fact, with the right information you can even financially profit from this hobby.

4. The correct materials- you may be wondering exactly what are the tools you need equip your Nitro RC car with. Here is a list that can help you decide.
i) Nitro RC car kit – contains just about everything that is required by you for building yourself a basic model of the Nitro RC car. The kit contains what is required to build the RC car itself and includes the chassis, engine, and the whole ensemble. If you’re a beginner it is recommended that you stick to the instructions given in the manual that comes along with the RC kit. With progress in building the car, you might want to graduate from the standard look to your own customized look for your vehicle.
ii) Fuel- the fuel required, in this case Nitromethane-castor oil mix, for powering your Nitro RC car, are available in different hobby stores and shops. Remember- using gasoline to power your Nitro car is not only wrong it is also extremely dangerous. Gasoline is extremely volatile and usually less volatile fuels are used to power the Nitro RC car. In fact gasoline is so volatile that it can even make your engine explode if used. If you’d like to ensure that your car lasts for long and in good condition, it is advisable you use only the fuel that is recommended. With precaution you can enjoy your RC hobby for many days.

Him and I don't have any friends, I mean he has a few at work but we lost our close friends last year so I can't really plan a party. Plus he's temporarily living with his parents (as am I) so there's no place to throw one, no one to pitch in on it, and I did it last year. He really likes cars, classic man food like steak with mac and cheese, he loves airplanes and gas powered remote control cars…everything I think of is expensive though! Example a cold air intake, he wants one of those but I can't afford it. So to get to the point, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS THAT I COULD CONTRIBUTE TO MY OWN?!?! His birthday is the 28th of this month…

Any parent knows that young boys love playing with cars, In fact, they are one of the most popular toys available and have been for countless years. But as children get older and harder to please (over three years old say), the ‘push and go’ model cars get a bit boring and many kids develop a longing for something that moves on it’s own! Remote control cars therefore fit the bill nicely and that is why they are growing in popularity, year after year. And it’s not just kids driving the trend, but adults too! There is a whole plethora of information about the hobby on the web, but little for beginners and that is why I wrote this article.

When trying to make sense of all of the different remote control cars available, a good place to start is understanding that there are two grades of remote control cars (or radio controlled cars as enthusiasts call them). The two different types are hobby grade cars and toy grade cars and both can provide hours of fun and enjoyment, for the right person.

Toy grade remote control cars are ideally suited to younger children because they cost less and if your child’s interest fades, you will not have spent the earth. Toy grade remote control cars are also safer for younger children, as they are generally not as fast, compared to say a petrol or nitro powered car (these can hurt if they hit you at 60 km/h!). Toy grade cars have other benefits too, such as;

Unbelievably detailed replicas are available, suitable for little & big boys who want to own their dream car.

Many are officially licensed by manufacturers like Range Rover, Land Rover, Audi, BMW, Ferrari etc. & they are generally cheaper than the replicas you can buy in most car show rooms.

Generally, they do not need to be built and are ready to use from the box.

They are an ideal gift & are cheaper than most hobby grade remote control cars.

They are safer for younger children (generally three & up) compared to faster hobby grade cars.

A great selection of toy remote control cars is available on Ebay. Some of the best can be found by clicking here.

Hobby grade remote control cars are different. They are more expensive, but offer several benefits if you are looking to take your hobby more seriously. For example, spares are often available & you’ll be able to make repairs yourself (or even get your car serviced in a specialist shop). Hobby grade remote control cars are also generally faster, as they are powered by either high performance electric motors, petrol or even nitro engines! For this reason hobby grade remote control cars are not suitable for younger children, as they can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h. In fact, most reputable brands recommend that nitro powered cars are only suitable for teenagers and adults, due to their speed and the toxic nature of nitro fuel. You can also upgrade a hobby grade remote control car to make it faster, stronger, more adjustable or just to make it look better. Some even have optional bodies that you can replace whenever you want.

If you decide to opt for a more expensive hobby grade remote control car, you will have a few decisions to make, such as;

On Road Versus Off Road…

The most popular type of remote control car is the Off-Road Buggy. These normally have larger tyres with spikey treads, full suspension & go on almost any terrain. On-Road cars are usually lower, have slick tyres & sleek sporty bodies.

Kit Form or Ready To Run…

Some hobby grade remote control car companies specialize in producing kits that you can put together yourself. Although this can be rewarding if you have the patience, it is not really an option for younger children, as some models may require a small amount of finishing, for example bodyshell painting and fitting. Kit form remote control cars can cost more at first, but they can also be more durable and therefore economical in the longer term.

Electric, Petrol or Nitro Powered…

Electric remote control cars are typically powered by rechargeable NiCad, nickel metal hydride or lipo batteries. Electric models are the entry grade within the hobby class cars & this power source is considered to be safer compared to petrol or nitro powered models, particularly for younger drivers. They are also quiet and can be used indoors.

Petrol remote control cars are normally powered by small 2-stroke engines, similar in capacity to chain saw engines. They can be faster than electric models, but they are not particularly suitable for younger drivers. Petrol power is often used for larger cars.

Nitro remote control cars are usually powered by model 2-stroke engines that run on specially formulated model fuel, which is available from specialist shops and websites. They require more user knowledge, and are also not suitable for young children, as they are seriously fast and nitro fuel can be dangerous stuff! Nitro powered remote control cars can also be more difficult to start.

Scale – Big, Medium or Mini…

A whole plethora of different sizes (or scales) is available and it doesn’t really matter which you buy, unless you intend on racing your car at a club in a specific category. Generally speaking the huge monster sized 1/5th size cars are petrol powered and are not really suitable for children due to their bulk. A good option for most and probably the most common sizes are either 1/10 or 1/12 scale. These cars are widely available with either a nitro or electric power source, and are small enough for most to carry. Smaller ‘mini’ sizes are also now quite common too, particularly in 1/18 scale.

Generally speaking, hobby grade remote control cars are sold at specialized hobby shops or websites. A great website for beginners is <a rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.remotecontrolcarsdirect.com/index.html" target="_self" title="www.remotecontrolcarsdirect.com” target=”_blank”>www.remotecontrolcarsdirect.com”>www.remotecontrolcarsdirect.com where you can find more information, videos, and details about magazines and clubs.

In summary, whichever type of remote control car you decide to buy one thing is guaranteed regardless of your age, you will have lots and lots of fun!

When we say ‘RC Car Body’, it means the outer shell or covering of the RC car that defines its appearance. There are two general classifications for RC car bodies depending on their availability, and these are:
• Pre-built: This type of car body will come with a pre-assembled car and look like other similar models manufactured by the company. Most of the pre-built RC Car bodies are designed on real car models. Hobbyists purchase these models for displaying their craftsmanship. With the pre-built car bodies, one can possess their dream car, albeit as a remote control car!
• Customized: Pre-build car bodies have a uniform appearance. However, serious car enthusiasts prefer to add their own personalized touches to the car bodies. Long time enthusiasts of RC cars try to achieve one of the two objectives, namely aesthetical advancement or performance enhancement. Car enthusiasts, who want their cars to stand out in the crowd or look better than the others, customize the car bodies for aesthetical enhancement. Many customization ventures are also undertaken to enhance the performance of the RC car by improving the aerodynamics of the vehicle to attain maximum speeds.

The most common type and easily recognizable car bodies may be of three kinds:
1. Realistic Car body: These are based on the normal cars running on the road. Basically, they are miniature models of real cars. They may often be modeled on the latest winner of the world car rallies like a Ferrari or on the more ‘cool’ model like the Hummer. The realistic RC car body is highly regarded for its craftsmanship and faithfulness to the original car model. These cars will be used for on-road races as there is less chance of damage to the vehicle.
2. Monster Truck: These car bodies are meant to take a lot of bashing and are built to be sturdy vehicles. The owners subject the vehicles to various maneuvers like leaping off ramps and participating in off-road or hurdle races. Most often, the vehicles survive the difficult terrain because they are built to be durable and sturdy. These are meant to be fun vehicles, giving their owner the thrill of actual rally car races.
3. Racing Buggy: These RC cars are made for the races. The vehicles are built for speed and can take on any terrain. It is aerodynamically designed in the typical triangular shape to be used in any kind of racing conditions, to emerge the winner.

Remote controlled cars are more complex and are a miniature version of a normal car running on actual fuel like nitro or gasoline, or some of them may even run on large batteries. These cars require as much maintenance as a normal car, as they contain the same components apart from the radio transmitting gear.

There are various qualities of the components that are available for building a remote controlled car. Hobby stores provide simple components that can be used to build a simple car. However, if you want to build the most amazing or the fastest remote controlled car, you may need to spend some money on quality car components. While purchasing the components, you have to be particularly careful because the quality and type will ensure maximum performance of your car.

Nitro methane is an alternative fuel to gasoline and works well for remote controlled cars. It is a heavier fuel, providing huge speeds and suited to a straightforward race course. A nitro engine is a good choice for fast engine speeds. However, nitro engines have a disadvantage in that they wear down faster. Engine break downs are inevitable after intense usage and it is a good idea to have a standby electric engine that can be exchanged for the nitro engine when the need arises.

The other components of a car are also important for the performance of a remote controlled car, especially when you aim for absolute speed. You may be required to spend a large amount of money on wheels and axles. The wheels for a remote controlled car should be extremely light, yet firm. The best way to purchase remote controlled car parts is to visit a hobby store, test out the various components, and compare them with other brands. This will help you to select the best items based on your experience.

The idea of picking up the various components may not be very appealing to a person not technically inclined. Car kits that include all the various components makes the job easier for such persons and these parts are also quite easy to assemble. However, you will not be able to achieve the high level of customization that you can get by assembling individual parts to build the RC car. Most of the times you can replace the individual parts if you so wish, in case you have assembled the car from a readily available kit, to give you more efficiency and speed.

It is advisable to ensure that all the various components that you select are of good quality and compatible with each other. A single part that does not perform well will affect the overall performance and speed of the remote controlled car. Select the best parts to get the best performance from your remote controlled car.

Remote control boats, airplanes, cars and trucks are some of the most popular items of interest for hobbyists. In this day and age, RC vehicles are more than just toys. They are actually collectible items and serious enthusiasts spend a significant amount of money buying and accessorizing such playthings. Over the years, hobby shops from all over the world have experienced a tremendous increase in sales as a result of the growing popularity of RC vehicles. If you are planning to join other hobbyists in this fun and exciting form of recreation, you first need to learn how to choose the right remote controlled vehicle for you. Here are some important tips.

First off, you need to know the size or scale of the remote control boats, airplanes, cars and trucks that you want to focus on. The scale actually represents the size or proportion of the RC vehicle in relation to real life boat, airplanes, cars, or trucks. For instance a 1:24 scale model of an RC fighter plane would mean that it is 24 times smaller than the actual plane that it represents. The size or scale of your RC vehicle is important because it can affect fuel consumption or battery life. The bigger scale models would naturally consume more fuel or have a shorter battery life than smaller ones.

Next, you need to determine the type of fuel or power source for your remote control boats, airplanes, cars and trucks. Many RC vehicles use ordinary AA batteries, but these models are usually the ones that are given to kids as toys. Meanwhile, enthusiasts or hobbyists typically go for models that run on rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries. This type of batteries can supply anywhere from 4.8 to 9.6 volts of electrical power. Still, there are RC vehicles that use petrol much like their real life counterparts. Make sure to check out the box or label to see what type of power source is needed for your RC vehicle.

Finally, remote control boats, airplanes, cars and trucks run on different types of engines. Much like the variable types of fuel or power source, there are also different types of propulsion for each RC model. There are RC vehicles that are powered by electrical engines, while there are those that use motors that consume petroleum-based fuel. But more and more hobbyists now choose remote control models that are powered by nitro engines. The type of engine that your RC model uses can directly affect its speed and overall power.
